About Ruslan Bordiug: Mastering Life’s Greatest Game

Hey there! I’m Ruslan Bordiug, a senior game developer crafting interactive worlds at an AAA studio and navigating the exciting challenge of balancing tech career with family life. My journey in game development began in an unlikely place—a small mining town in Ukraine, with an old Orel BK-08 computer and text-based adventures that had me learning English just to understand if those goblins were friendly or not!
Before finding my path in tech, life took me through quite an adventure – I’ve been a teacher, network administrator, TV channel operator, professional photographer, and more. Each of these experiences, though seemingly unrelated at the time, later added unique perspective to my game development career. When life threw its hardest challenge in 2014, forcing us to flee from Russian occupation, we found a new home in Portugal, where community support helped us rebuild and thrive.
Today, while I’m living my dream of creating immersive gaming experiences, my most rewarding role is being a dad to four amazing kids. Trust me, no game manual could prepare you for parenting—there’s no pause button or save points in this adventure! But it’s the most incredible quest I’ve ever undertaken.
